15 - 17 November 2013
55th International Art Biennale -It's the Olympics of the Art world! Every country wants a slice of the action... big names, big Art, and big fun. We go to experience the good, the bad... and the ugly!
This has been our third Biennale. Each one has been a completely different experience... and each has been very enjoyable in its own, unique way. This years theme, The Encyclopedic Palace, allowed for some very challenging and thought provoking creations. Video art was huge and immersive experiences transported us to wonderful, intriguing places. The stripped back gallery spaces of the Arsenale contrasted beautifully with the faded-retro of the pavilions in the Giardini. The pop-up installations in the hidden villas and back street houses also got a big thumbs up.
We had amazing weather for our two day mega-quick-trip! Blue skies and wonderful sunshine... what a great way to spend an early November weekend.
