Countertenor Andrew Watts - performs out-there versions of Klaus Nomi classics re-twisted by Olga Neuwirth. The London Sinfonietta create the soundscapes... The results of this UK premiere are electrifying.
Nomi’s songs are special, they are edgy, trashy and extraterrestrial. Composer Olga Neuwirth has arranged Nomi classics to recreate the spirit of this groundbreaking artist and the times he lived in. Countertenor Andrew Watts (shown above) gave his all as he jigged around the vast stage, he was the thread that held the compositions together. Neuwirth’s musical arrangements challenged the Sinfonietta... the Grand piano had its strings plucked, the electric guitar was played with a violin bow and synthesizer had its filters turned to overload.
The evenings entertainment was divided into 3 scenes:
Olga Neuwirth Five Daily Miniatures (UK Premiere)
Olga Neuwirth ...miramondo multiplo... (UK premiere of ensemble version)
Olga Neuwirth Hommage à Klaus Nomi (UK Premiere)
Why not spend a little time enjoying the attached vids - vintage Nomi at his best!...
