>VAN DOESBURG

- and the International avant-garde
Tate Modern - 1 May 2010

Poster for small Dada soiree. 1923

11 galleries bulging with Neo-plasticism, Schematic Modernisation, ideas for architecture, primary colour and ground-breaking furniture design! Nice!..

Van Doesburg founded the De Stijl movement of painters, architects and designers, and was responsible for promoting his international style of geometric art across Europe in the early days after World War I. Creating pieces within strict geometric guidelines, the work on show can be seen as the founding roots of movements like Dada and Modernism, and Dutch Neo-plasticism.

Tate Modern continue to do what they do best... great show and very interesting - an education in red, blue yellow and black!
