With tonnes of creativity and immense amounts of imagination - Royal de Luxe take the concept of 'art-for-all' to the next level, and beyond! ...Ladies & Gentlemen prepare for lift off!
Founded by Jean Luc Courcoult (left) in 1979, Royal de Luxe has built itself a truly enviable reputation! The French production team have wowed the crowds in Cities all over the world with spectacular shows involving giant animated creations. London was lucky enough to host the fifth and most spectacular show to date - The Sultan's Elephant! For four days in May 2006 - London was transformed into the play ground of the Sultan and his menagerie of huge and wonderful friends. See pics below - The sheer scale and attention to detail was absolutely stunning - I don't think we will ever see the likes again!
Artichoke was the company responsible for bringing this show to London, they are a charitable trust and love a creative challenge! They believe in making art available to the largest possible audience, bringing culture to the people! They operate in unusual places: in streets, public spaces and the countryside - they never appear to be out of their depth!
Liverpool - The Capital of Culture 2008...
Large scale street theatre strikes again. This time the French production team behind the Sultan's Elephant unleashed 'Le Princesse' - a fifty foot mechanical spider that literally brought Liverpool to its knees!
Today you can visit the workshops and creative think tank of this brilliant group of artists, engineers and designers. Machines of the Isle of Nantes in Nantes, north-west France is now a major tourist attraction and destination for those wishing to find out more about the production of these weird and wonderful creatures. Hope to visit this place one day!
