Hello, 2004 - 2008 Oil on wood

Colour and emotion from one of our most important living artists!
Howard Hodgkin CH, CBE was born in 1932. His beautifully expressive abstract art is a visual treat. Old bread boards, table tops and even the simple robust frames around his works are all brought to life with energy and sensitivity.
These new works, displayed in the Gagosian's two minimal galleries, are so vibrant and exciting. Bright daubs and strokes of colour leaping around the compositions, creating wonderful movement and depth. Exhilarating abstract landscapes and intimate expressive emotions are all present... We left this show with beaming smiles!
Selected highlights of Howard's career include: 1984 he represents Britain at the Venice Biennale. 1985 he wins the Turner Prize. 1992 he was Knighted. 2003 he is appointed by Queen Elizabeth II as a Companion of Honour. In 2006 a major exhibition of his work was mounted at Tate Britain and the Independent declares him as one of the 100 most influential gay and lesbian people in Britain!
Warm approachable abstraction at its very best!
