> THE AUDIENCE

The Audience - Every week, the Queen has met her Prime Minister in an Audience at Buckingham Palace. Both parties agree never to repeat what is said. Not even to their spouses. But what is discussed? What secrets are shared? Does her Majesty have her favourites?

Often funny, sometimes confessional, occasionally explosive, The Audience imagines the private moments that define a changing Britain. From Peter Morgan, the writer of the award-winning TV series The Crown and Oscar-winning film The Queen, NST Director Samuel Hodges (The Shadow Factory) directs a brand new production of the comic hit play.

Prime Minister: I never sleep much.
Queen: Oh dear.

I like the idea of any person with the power to start a nuclear war being rested. Nuffield Southampton Theatres Director Samuel Hodges directs his new version of the award winning play from the writer of the critically acclaimed TV series The Crown and the Oscar award winning film The Queen.

What a stunning production. This has been our first visit to the new NST City Theatre, an amazing space for all sorts of performing Arts. Very comfortable and jam-packed with the very latest technical kit, a perfect venue for this minimal and elegant production. Faye Castelow rocked it as The Queen. Lizzie Hopley was amazing as Margaret Thatcher and Paul Kemp played the 7 Prime Ministers like an absolute pro. Brilliant stuff!
