> SUMMER GARDEN SPECTACULAR

Kent
20 July 2013

Kent - Garden of Britain - The gardens at Sissinghurst Castle and Great Dixter are on the top of every gardeners 'must-experience' list. We pop down to Kent and visit these two iconic gardens.

The sun has unfortunately hidden behind a thin layer of grey cloud today, but this does little to stop us exploring these two beautiful examples of innovative English garden design!

Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens - Owned and maintained by the National Trust, this famous 20th-century garden is actually a series of ten smaller "garden rooms," each uniquely different from the others. Neat, tidy and very, very well maintained.

Great Dixter House and Gardens - Great Dixter was the family home of gardener and gardening writer Christopher Lloyd – it was the focus of his energy and enthusiasm and fuelled over 40 years of books and articles. Now under the stewardship of Fergus Garrett and the Great Dixter Charitable Trust, Great Dixter is an historic house, a garden, a centre of education, and a place of pilgrimage for horticulturists from across the world.
