People - Frances de la Tour takes the part of Dorothy in her third new play by Alan Bennett at the National following The History Boys and The Habit of Art. She is joined by Selina Cadell and Linda Bassett.

A sale? Why not? Release all your wonderful treasures onto the open market and they are there for everyone to enjoy. It’s a kind of emancipation, a setting them free to range the world… a saleroom here, an exhibition there; art, Lady Stacpoole, is a rover".  People spoil things; there are so many of them and the last thing one wants is them traipsing through one’s house. But with the park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is one to do? Dorothy wonders if an attic sale could be a solution...

Frances de la Tour is a joy to watch lording it up as she struts around the huge stage. This new Alan Bennett play is a wonderfully observed piece of comedy theatre. Touching, relevant and funny, funny, funny - a great vehicle for Lady de la Tour to boom out her lines with 'that voice'... A giggle-tastic night out!

National Theatre Live - People will be broadcast to cinemas across the UK and around the world on Thursday 21 March 2013.
