>DAVID NASH AT KEW GARDENS

Kew Gardens, London
12 Aug 2012

David Nash at Kew Gardens - a wonderland of sculpture. A majestic mash-up of forms that reference nature from every angle. Trees,  flowers and art - together in perfect harmony!

This spectacular exhibition of work by the British artist David Nash is just beautiful! Set amongst the trees, flower beds and glasshouses of Kew's wonderful grounds, this 'natural gallery' is the perfect setting for Nash's beautiful forms. Sculptures, installations, drawings and film are all present, as well as a 'wood quarry', where Nash has been creating pieces for the exhibition using trees from the gardens that have come to the end of their natural life.

We also ventured up amongst the highest branches as we walked around the magnificent 18m high treetop walk. The views of the gardens and surrounding countryside are breathtaking - a great experience!

Kew has so much to offer and we really made the most of our 5 hour visit. The £16.00 entry seems a little steep at first, but we soon realised that our visit was absolutely worth every penny. The grounds are a beautiful mix of formal and naturalistic with just the right amount of structure. The beautiful Palm houses, temperate houses and Pagoda create the perfect backdrop for a varied collection of native and exotic plants. We really enjoyed the botanical studies housed in the Marianne North Gallery. A beautiful and historically important collection of 833 paintings depicting more than 900 species of plants, many captured in scenes from around the world.
