>THE TORCH LIGHTS UP GREENWICH

Greenwich, London
21 July 2012

The Olympic Torch Relay - The flame is on it's way to the Olympic Stadium! By the time it lights up the Games on the 27th, 8,000 torchbearers will have carried it on it's 70 day journey... I pop to the end of our road in the Royal Borough of Greenwich to witness a little bit of the magic.

7:30 am - Saturday morning and the sun is out! An early start to catch the Olympic Torch as it passes through Greenwich en route to the the Olympic Stadium in Stratford. Crowds of locals line the street as the circus passes by. Branded vans and tacky Coca-Cola handouts signal the arrival of the Torch. Police outriders and cheers, kids on shoulders and hundreds of cameras. A little bit of history over in a flash. Can't wait for the opening ceremony, bring it on!

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is the first London borough to welcome the Olympic torch as it starts it's last leg of an epic journey to the Stadium. There will be 35 runners for the borough out of a total 143 torchbearers for this, the 64th day of the relay!

8 out of 10!
